9:30 am - 10:10 am CASE STUDY: Level Crossings Removal Project, Removing Safety Concerns and Encouraging Urban Growth
Over the course of eight years the Level Crossings Removal Authority will oversee the removal of 50 dangerous and congested level crossings across Melbourne. This 8.3 billion dollar rail project will also develop 23 stations within the space of 4 years which will have significant benefits to the community. This session will include:
- Exploring how the Level Crossings Removal Project has delivered safety improvements for drivers and passengers, getting people home safer and fester
- Identifying how the removal of level crossings has removed safety risks and stimulated economic growth for local communities
- Accessing how this project delivered six months of work in six weeks during the Blackburn Road level crossings removal
10:10 am - 10:50 am Wynyard Station Upgrade: From Design to Construction, a Station That Responds to Customer Needs
Peter Church will explore the station design, planning and construction that has led to a station that offers increased customer satisfaction and can deal with the rise in demand of Sydney’s third busiest station. This session will explore:
- The innovations behind Wynyard Station and Wynyard Walk to manage an increase in foot traffic and developing innovation way finding solutions
- Enhancing the customer experience of Wynyard station through innovation design concepts such as heritage escalators and wynscreen- projects that enhances the walk to Wynyard station
- Strategies to minimise disruptions in project delivery and ensure safety for commuters on live operating environments
- Strategies to cope with the expected demand of 100 000 commuters
