10:10 AM Case Study: Increasing Urban and Economic Growth Opportunities in Queensland through the Cross River Rail Project
Fully funded and with work already underway, the $5.4bn Cross River Rail project is Queensland’s number one infrastructure priority. By unlocking at bottleneck at the core of South East Queensland’s transport network, Cross River Rail will allow more trains more often, enabling a turn-up-and-go transport system for the entire region. It comprises a new 10.2 kilometre rail line which includes a 5.9 kilometre tunnel under the Brisbane River and CBD. It also includes four new underground stations at Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street and Roma Street and upgrades to Dutton Park and Exhibition stations. This session will explore:
- How these high- capacity stations will generate unique opportunities for urban renewal
- Strategies to integrate these stations within the network
- How this project will revitalise inner city precincts
