Wynyard Station: Planning for the Future With Functional Station Design

Wynyard Station: Planning for the Future With Functional Station Design

In Australia alone, we have seen over $50 billion in critical road and rail infrastructure funding to ease congestion in our cities, including investment into underground rail projects and station upgrades. An increased transport network means hundreds of new transportation hubs will be surfacing across our cities, ultimately changing the way the public experiences travel and commuting.

Ahead of the inaugural Station and Terminals Design and Development Summit 2017 we chat to John Sung, Project Manager for the $100 million Transport for New South Wales Wynyard Station redevelopment.

The redevelopment of the 85 year old station began in mid 2015 and aims to improve overall station functionality through and an overhaul of the concourse, ticket area and new fixtures and finishes, such as lighting, tiling and painting – ultimately increasing patronage and improving the commuter experience.
